For Him

• Make sure you are well groomed. The problem with this is that most people think that their habits are perfectly acceptable for them. To find out if you really are presentable, ask a really good friend (who can afford to be brutally honest with you) on how well you measure up.
• Be a gentleman
• Don't be a cheap tipper and don't balk at the prices. A cheapskate is an instant turn-off for women.
• Don't stare at every woman who walks by.
• Have a plan for the date: this show initiative and responsibility (.. . and women really appreciate it)
• Call before you leave to pick her up

For Her

• Do not keep him waiting. You should definitely not spend twenty minutes in the bathroom.
• Accept compliments and be positive about yourself
• Tell him that you are enjoying yourself
• Don't pick at your meal (...also, order more than just a salad)
• Smile and laugh at all his jokes
• Don't be obnoxious, annoying, whiny, or loud
• Don't ask about his salary
• Don't tell him your whole life story

For Both

• Keep up with your current events: read the newspaper or watch the news the day of the date so that you will have something to talk about during those awkward silences.
• Know when you're boring. When your date's responses are reduced to "huh-huh" and "yah" it's time to stop.
• Don't lie. You will just dig yourself deeper and deeper into a hole.
• Don't eat too fast, don't slurp, and don't chew with your mouth open.
• Make eye contact with your date
• Listen when the other person talks, ask questions, and express interest in what your date has to say
• Don't talk about yourself too much (let your date contribute to the conversation)
• Don't swear or burp (remember your manners)
